Refrigerated Display Cabinets for retail applications such as butchers, delicatessens, hotels, sandwich shops & coffee shops are available in a huge number of brands, and an equally big variation in quality and performance. Generally to function at the temperatures required by Safe Foods (5°C or under), the ambient temperature in the premises should not exceed 25°C and the relative humidity 65%. Many claim to operate in higher temperatures and humidity but caution should be taken.
Australian conditions almost invariably require air conditioning otherwise the cabinets will not consistently maintain the temperature required, exposing retailers to sanctions by Safe Food, or worse, affecting the health of customers.
Catering Equipment Direct will never recommend a refrigerated display cabinet to a retailer without first discussing the environment in which it is to be located. A short period of time, say 3 to 4 hours per day can be tolerated by a quality display cabinet such as the Eurocryer Spring, Criocabin Ergo, Enixe and Explorer. The temperature at which they are set to operate will also affect this period of time. Butchers Display cabinets are usually required to maintain 0°C to 2°C. Accordingly, in marginal environments we suggest the Enixe M1, a superior performance Refrigerated Display case, or the Explorer featuring cold plate and top fin coil. The Explorer is a recent addition to our range, introduced at the request of butchers over a number of years.
In properly air conditioned shops the Spring, Ergo and Enixe refrigerated display cabinets are perfect for butchers and delicatessens and offer the added advantage of refrigerated storage under the refrigerated display cabinet. The Enixe features square lift up front glass and the Spring and Ergo curved lift up front glass.
For sandwich and coffee shops where ambient temperatures may be a little higher than 25°C for some of the day, but the operating temperature is not as critical, The Enixe, Ergo or Spring Display Cabinets will normally be adequate.
